About Me

Sub Logo

I am a certified canine trainer and Behaviour Consultant, providing services in Wiltshire, Bath, and North Somerset.

Guided by a genuine love for dogs, I am committed to understanding their behaviour. To ensure I can provide my clients with the tools to strengthen bonds and overcome behavioural challenges,  I continuously invest in professional development. Currently, I am working towards my Foundation Degree in Canine Behaviour Practitioners and an Accredited Advanced Certificate in Canine Pharmacology.

My specialisation is in rescue, nervous and anxious behavioural problems, including reactivity and separation anxiety. Having previously fostered Romanian rescues and worked in a dog shelter, I have significant experience supporting the rehabilitation of 'unhomeable' dogs. For more than 30 years, I have rescued animals, including my two dogs, Cleo and Bailey.

As a behaviourist, I am proud to be a force-free, ethical trainer. I chose this career as I am passionate about all dogs, their welfare, and happiness. I truly believe in helping owners bond and live in harmony with their dogs. This is all interlinked with our understanding and acceptance of these amazing animals we share our lives and our homes with.

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead,

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow,

Just walk beside me,

And be my friend.

Dog Behaviour

Training Methods

heirachy of dog needs

Calm Canines Wiltshire uses force-free, positive reinforcement methods. Working under the LIFE (Least Inhibitive Functionally Affective) approach to ethical training methods and the Humane Hierarchy Philosophy. Animals learn better when they are relaxed, engaged, and happy. I do not believe in punishment, as this is counterproductive in training.

A holistic approach is key to modifying dog behaviour long-term. Using dominance or balance training leads to suppression of behaviour and does not address the root cause.

Each dog and their circumstances are different, and I tailor my training to suit both the individual dog and family.

Through constant studying and the wonderful people I work with, I can continuously expand and advance my approach. I believe you never stop learning, and I have a passion to pass my knowledge on to you, the owner.

Helping you understand why your dog is behaving the way they are is fundamental to changing unwanted behaviours into positive ones. Dogs are great learners. I will teach you to understand and train your dog. Helping them to reach their full learning potential and ultimately create a great bond with your best friend.
